Established in 1948 with most of its landholdings purchased as smaller non-contiguous tracts in the 1950s and ’60s, OPSF now encompasses over 6,600 acres of forested land featuring hiking and horseback riding trails, as well as primitive campgrounds operating on a first-come, first-served basis with self-registration booths.

At the annual open house, community members can connect with professional foresters to discuss long-term management, offer input, and discover outdoor recreation options across the forest.

The OPSF office is located five miles west of Spencer and less than a mile north of S.R. 46 at 2153 Fish Creek Rd.
