Lloyd Stephen Cooksey, 81

Lloyd Stephen Cooksey, 81, of Spencer, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 11, 1945, in Greencastle, he was the son of Frank Cooksey and Melissa “Lucille” (Cook) Cooksey. Lloyd graduated from Spencer High School with the class of 1963. On December 18, 1964, he married Peggy Arthur Cooksey, with whom he shared many wonderful years.

Lloyd dedicated his working career to the Spencer-Owen Community School Corporation, serving as a custodian for many years prior to his retirement. Known for his dependable nature and strong work ethic, he will be fondly remembered by his community, friends, and family. Outside of work, Lloyd found great joy in following baseball and cheering on Indiana University sports.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Patterson, Kim (Chris) Campbell, and Stephanie Sare; grandchildren, Megan Elmore, Luke Patterson, Doug Patterson, Drake (Caitlynn) Patterson, Aidan Campbell, Delaney Campbell, Anna Sare, Christian Sare, and Jeffrey Sare; and great-grandchildren, Branson Elmore, Aila Elmore, and Silas Cox.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Cooksey; and brother, Don Cooksey.

Private family services were entrusted to West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.
