Five individuals have filed for the three seats available throughout Owen County for the Spencer-Owen Community Schools Board of School Trustees.
The seats up for reelection include Districts 2, 3 and 5. Those seats are currently held by Mark Rogers, Lizz Bixler and Jack White, respectively.
Bixler is the only incumbent seeking reelection.
Joseph Pavich is running unopposed for District 2.
Bixler is being challenged by Anthony Bonds, while Jacob Zeunik and Jama Brown are both vying for the District 5 seat.
These candidates will appear on the ballot for the Nov. 3 General Election.
For the first time this year, candidates had the option to declare a party affiliation if they chose to do so.
Four of the five candidates chose to remain nonpartisan and not declare a political party. Brown was the only candidate to declare affiliation with a political party by designating herself as a Republican.
While candidates must reside in the district they seek to represent, all registered voters that live within the S-OCS district can vote in each of the school board races.
As of June 25, no candidates had filed for the Owen County seat on the Cloverdale Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees representing Taylor Township. For Cloverdale Township, Aragon Gould (R) and current board president Vivian Whitaker have both filed.
