County moves forward with jail land purchase

In a joint meeting of the Owen County Council and Owen County Commissioners, both bodies approved the purchase of 18 acres on State Road 46 to build a new jail.

After more than two hours of public comment, each body passed a resolution approving the expenditure and the land purchase. The closing on the property is anticipated for 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.
