Perry Lou McClain, 70, of Atkinsonville, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Perry was born on January 12, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Oral Wright and Olive E. (Ervin) Wright. Perry proudly served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany. He worked in the logging industry for over thirty-five years, having retired in 2025. Perry spent 30 years building a wonderful life with his true love, Mary L. (Cassida) McClain, finally tying the knot on June 28, 2013. Perry loved the outdoors, spending time with his family, sharing laughter, and hanging out in his garage.
Perry is survived by his wife; children, Annie (Phillip) Walden-Danniel, Sara Tate, and Kata Teuton; grandchildren, Mitchell, Ethan, Mason, Evan, and Halyn; siblings, Oral W. “Huck” Wright, and Peggy Wright; and many nieces and nephews.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Wright, Clifford Owen “Butch” Wright, and Richard Larry McClain, Jr.; and sister, Sharon Hurt.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the New Union Carolina Church, Atkinsonville, IN. Fred Ervin will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Owen County Honor Guard.
Perry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Union Carolina Cemetery.
