Owen County Preservations is pleased to announce an exciting new chapter for the Tivoli Theatre and its operations. As part of an effort to strengthen community involvement and provide greater focus to the Tivoli’s programming and future, Owen County Preservations will be separating its organizational responsibilities from the day-to-day operations of the Tivoli. Under the new structure, Owen County Preservations will retain ownership of the Tivoli building, while a newly established nine-member Tivoli Board will oversee the direction of Tivoli operations and work closely with the Tivoli Director.
The new board will be organized around three key areas of focus:
- Volunteer Recruitment and Retention: Three board members will focus on building and strengthening the Tivoli’s volunteer base, helping recruit new volunteers and create opportunities that encourage continued involvement.
- Non-Movie Programming: Three board members will focus on developing and expanding events and programming beyond regular movie offerings, helping make the Tivoli an even more active community destination.
- Grant Writing and Donor Relations: Three board members will focus on identifying grant opportunities, strengthening donor relationships, and supporting the long-term financial sustainability of Tivoli operations.
While members will have specific areas of responsibility, all nine board members will participate in fundraising efforts and contribute to the overall success of the Tivoli. The board will meet monthly and members will also be expected to participate in special events and activities throughout the year.
Serving on the Tivoli Board will require a commitment of approximately three to four hours per month, along with a willingness to support the Tivoli’s mission and work collaboratively with fellow board members, volunteers, staff, donors, and the community.
“This new structure provides an opportunity to bring even more community involvement and dedicated leadership to the Tivoli,” said Robert White, Owen County Preservations board president. “We are excited about what this next chapter can mean for the Tivoli and look forward to working with community members who are passionate about preserving this important local landmark while helping create new opportunities for the future.”
Community members interested in serving on the Tivoli Board are encouraged to apply. Applications are available online at www.owencountypreservations.com. Applications will be accepted thru October 31, 2026 with interviews conducted in November. Owen County Preservations looks forward to building this new partnership and continuing to preserve the Tivoli while supporting its role as a vibrant gathering place for the Owen County community.
