COLUMN: OCAE celebrates a year of student success

The Owen County Adult Education (OCAE) program is proud to celebrate another successful year of helping residents achieve their educational and career goals. During the 2025-2026 program year, students demonstrated remarkable dedication and perseverance, resulting in numerous accomplishments that will positively impact their futures.

One of the year's greatest achievements was the earning of 22 High School Equivalency diplomas, opening doors to new employment opportunities, higher education and personal growth for students throughout the community.

In addition to these academic milestones, 19 learners earned industry-recognized certifications in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel, gaining valuable workforce skills that are highly sought after by employers. These certifications help students strengthen their resumes and increase their competitiveness in today's job market.

OCAE students also expanded their technology and professional skills through advanced training opportunities. During the program year, 10 learners successfully completed courses in Salesforce and CompTIA A+, building expertise in customer relationship management and information technology support.

Best of all, these educational and workforce training opportunities were provided at no cost to the learner, helping remove barriers to education and allowing more Owen County residents to gain the skills needed to succeed in today's workforce.

"We are incredibly proud of all of our students and the progress they have made this year," said OCAE staff. "Each accomplishment represents hard work, determination and a commitment to building a brighter future."

As the program looks ahead to the 2026-2027 year, new educational and workforce training opportunities are being planned.
