Each summer, the Owen County Fair becomes a place where hard work, creativity and community pride come together.
From July 5 to 11, the Owen County Fairgrounds will once again host one of the most anticipated events of the year, inviting families, friends and neighbors to gather and celebrate. At the heart of the fair are Owen County 4-H members, whose projects and events truly shine throughout the week.
Visitors to the fair are encouraged to take time to explore the 4-H Exhibit Hall, where months of learning are displayed in creative and inspiring ways. Rows of exhibits highlight projects such as artwork, photography, foods, sewing, woodworking, science, technology and many other areas of interest. Each exhibit represents a young person's dedication, problem-solving and willingness to try something new. Fairgoers often leave impressed by the variety and quality of work created by local youth.
Livestock projects are another cornerstone of the 4-H experience at the Owen County Fair. Throughout the week, 4-H members will show beef, swine, sheep, goats, poultry and rabbits, demonstrating the care and commitment required to raise animals. Behind each show is a story of early mornings, daily chores and valuable lessons in responsibility and leadership. Watching these youths in the show ring offers a glimpse into the dedication that defines 4-H.
Beyond exhibits and livestock, the Owen County Fair features special events that celebrate youth achievement and bring 4-H members together. One highlight of the week will take place on Monday, July 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the Senior 4-H Member Recognition. This meaningful event honors older 4-H members for their dedication and accomplishments, including several seniors who have completed 10 years of 4-H involvement. Their commitment reflects the lasting impact 4-H can have on young people as they grow, learn and lead.
Following senior recognition, the fairgrounds will come alive with energy during 4-H Spirit Night, an annual favorite for members and spectators alike. Spirit Night brings together 4-H community clubs from across Owen County to compete in a variety of fun, teamwork-focused games. Clubs earn points throughout the evening for participation, teamwork and enthusiasm, all in pursuit of bragging rights for the coming year. Laughter, friendly competition, and club pride make Spirit Night a celebration of the community connections that 4-H helps create.
The Owen County Fair offers more than just entertainment—it offers a chance to see learning in action and to support the youth who are shaping the future of the community. Whether walking through the Exhibit Hall, watching a livestock show or cheering on clubs during Spirit Night, fairgoers will see firsthand how 4-H projects and events shine. Everyone is invited to join us at the fairgrounds this July to celebrate the dedication, growth and achievements of Owen County 4-H members.
